I didn't stay here in their accomodation, but went here twice to join for some diving; once for a refresher dive My last dive was a while back and once for a boat dive. The equipement was great, the instructers very kind and the dive sites unbelieveably beautifull. I highly recommend! The diving is fabulous with clear blue water and just enormous variety of life from schools of giant trevally, batfish, sharks, barracuda, tuna to fab shrimps, nudis and crabs. Loved the hot springs dive with the chance to swim around underwater fumeroles. I did the Sophie Rickmers wreck dive with the preparatory briefings and deep dive with Rosa and that was a brilliant experience. Rosa was inspiring with her knowledge, passion, skill and ability to communicate both above and below the water and the dive on the wreck was awesome in the fullest sense of the word. The entire team at Lumba Lumba were brilliant to dive and to spend time with. Special mention to Kris, Dom, Burt, Karena and to the wonderful Andy who guided us on most of our dives. Friendly, knowledgeable and clearly appreciative of the wonderful place where they are based! It was brilliant to get to know the team and to be surrounded by so many great humans. Rooms were brilliant clean, airy, loads of room, plenty of power sockets, hot showers and a hammock! Special mention must also go the the cracking team at Barracuda who kept us very well fed throughout. Huge thanks to everyone at Lumba Lumba. Everything was perfect for me. I stayed in the Living Colour Room, which is the budget version. The room was cleaned daily and the towels are changed for free on request. But the best is the stunning ocean view from the room’s balcony. Stuff is super friendly and helps with everything. Also the food of Barracuda on-site restaurant is amazing! Pizza night was my favorite I always felt totally safe during diving. The dive sites and the instructors I dived with Azian are simply great! Summing up, I had the best time! I did my PADI Open Water Diver here and had a blast! The instructor and assistant were super knowledgeable and nice and did a great job in explaining everything, making us feel safe under water and making sure we had fun through all of it. The resort is a nice, homey place with super helpful and nice staff. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the restaurant offers a wide variety of choices and is very good. We can only recommend this place and hope to visit again in the future! Really the best choice to stay on the island if your looking for top Notch diving and a great vibe. The staff is great and teh restaurant serves really good food for all preferences. They even surprised me with a birthday dinner + cake arranged by my boyfriend. Everything was well-coordinated and so relaxed. Our instructor Chris was extremely knowledgable and introduced us to a completely new world with so much commitment, fun, and patience. Thank you so much, we loved it!! The resort itself was a great place to stay. All of the Lumba Lumba staff was very welcoming and a lot of fun. The common area of the Dive Center offered a great space to get to know other divers and the staff better or just to hang out together. Food can be ordered from the adjacent restaurant Barracuda from 8 am until 10ish pm and can be enjoyed in the common area, which is quite convenient in between dives. It is also possible to rent scooters directly at the reception to go explore the island or go see an incredible sunset! The reception is also really helpful if you need transportation to and from the resort, to the port or in Banda Aceh to and from the airport. Our room was very satisfactory as well. We stayed in a beautiful bungalow that offered everything we needed - a comfortable bed, bathroom, hot shower, kettle, fridge, fan, terrace, hammock, etc. All in all, the resort provides an all-round service and takes care of everything, if you want it to. This is an off the beaten path island 45 minutes by ferry from Banda Aceh, Sumatra. I am a solo woman traveler age 76. The diving here is beautiful and added to the all inclusiveness of the center makes this a very relaxing dive vacation. The cabana's are lovely, the restaurant next to the dive center is a hub of social activity and good food. The setting is rural jungle with a lovely little beach on a house reef. The dive masters are skilled, safe and knowledgeable, the equipment is current and well cared for, boat and boat crews friendly and helpful. The management team is so well organized and I can't say enough about that. While I was there I did tours of Banda Aceh and its surrounding area with a terrific guide from Banda Aceh, Ifan, who you can contact thru the Dive Center. Make sure you have Ifan take you on his food tour. The cuisine in Banda is fabulous with lots of different dishes and hot the Elephant Conservation Outpost near Banda was an fun adventure. This is a rare these days and special place. Henny that was dealing with my bookings via email was so helpful and friendly! I just had to go with them. Stayed and dived with them for 5D4N. Everything was so well managed from emails to airport transfer to ferry transfer, accommodation and diving. Tari, the admin there helped us with bike rentals, food choices and places to visit. Mirieka, one of the instructor there was also very welcoming. We all stayed in the Living Room Cottage which was very spacious, clean, had an awesome balcony and also mosquito nets. Everyday, there will be someone who cleans the room and make the bed too! The dives with Lumba Lumba was very professional as well. Everything is all done for you too. You just need to check your equipments. That's it. They will set up, carry, change and wash your equipment for you too. What a service! The guides also split us up into small groups which was easier to control and manage at challenging dive sites. Food at Barracuda Cafe which is sort of part of Lumba Lumba was really good as well. The chef, Safuan is always super cheerful. But when there's too much to orders in the kitchen, they can be quite slow and sometimes forgetful of your orders. All in all, I would say that it was a pleasant stay and I wouldn't mind coming back here again. Hopefully this time with the much renewed dive center as it was under renovation when we were there.
